Instructions for removing a System Security Spybot
You will need a Windows Vista/Windows XP operating platform, an Antivirus/Spyware application and Windows Update. Then follow the steps below.
Step 1 - Firstly, you need to update your Antivirus program. Antivirus programs provide daily updates to keep your computer updated with new viruses. You can manually update your Antivirus software if it has not been updated recently. You can do this by clicking on the Antivirus icon located in the system tray and selecting the "Update" option. You can also update your Antivirus by going to Control Panel and selecting the 'Settings menu to update. Webroot are the most important Antivirus programs that offer an 'Update' option.
Step 2 - Open the spyware protection software on your computer and update it. This will ensure that it detects any Spydot viruses hiding in other parts of your system. Right-click the spyware icon on your computer's tray and select the "Search for New Updates" option. Spybot Search and Destroy and Windows Defender are important spyware programs.
Step 3 - To get the latest Microsoft updates, launch Windows Update by clicking on "Start" and selecting "Windows Update". It can also be accessed via start>Control Panel>Security. Click on the link under "Security" to open it.
Step 4 - You can disable the "System Restore" function to your computer. Many viruses and spyware lurk in this section. They can track your usage and enter data, and they may also prevent you from accessing certain programs. Right-click on the Computer/My Computer icon and choose 'Properties. Windows Vista users can click on "System Protection" to disable the 'System Restore function. The window will open. Uncheck the option next the hard drive. The 'System Properties window' would automatically open for an XP computer. Click on 'System Restore', then check the box next to "Turn off system restore". Reboot the computer to restore a fresh start, and remove any Spybot virus traces.
After a virus scan, if the virus is not removed by these steps, the Antivirus software on your computer will attempt to fix it. If the virus is still present, a computer professional can help you to remove it.
